Composer Emily Doolittle was born in Nova Scotia in 1972, and now lives in Seattle where she teaches music theory and composition at Cornish College of the Arts. Emily enjoys writing for standard instruments and ensembles, such as orchestras and string quartets, as well as for less common instruments, such as alphorn and viola d’amore. She is often influenced by birdsongs and other sounds from the natural world. When Emily is not composing, she enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors, and playing fiddle with the French-Canadian step dance band Podorythmie.
