Elementary Piano Trio
Buzzy Bumble Bee Boogie is a busy little boogie for a trio of friends at the elementary piano level. The boogie patters, buzzing bees and melodies are shared by all parts. “Maggie’s Stomp was written for a very dear friend of mine – Margaret Livermore. (She too is a passionate piano teacher!) Marg had three young girls looking for a trio for music fectival – this came to me very quickly once it was suggested. The stomp was inspired by Joplin’s work where the performer stomps his heel throughout. After it was named Maggie’s Stomp, Marg told me that her dad always called her Maggie!
Maggie’s Stomp has been performed at many music festivals and recitals. My favourite performances have had a large piece of plywood placed under the feet – which are donned with tap shoes – very effective and fun!” Debra

Rosa’s Danza is a beautiful Spanish style character piece. Each part is written on an individual page for ease of reading. A lovely haunting melody is shared between all parts. A quick pickup by player two assists with a clean start, while the changing metre, ritards and fermatas add to the character of the work. Conductor score included.

“Three Stars was written for three of my colleagues. They had created this fabulous Debra Wanless concert for their students in London, Ontario – everyone was playing my work and the teachers developed props and costumes to create a truly wonderful – child-friendly evening. These same teachers asked me to arranged or write a piano trio for them to perform at the end of the concert. I knew that this would be fun – but the challenge was to develop something that would appeal to the children at the end of a lengthy evening – which by the way even included live ducks! I decided that it should be an entertainment piece – also complete with costumes, props and acting. Knowing that my colleagues had a great sense of humour and had taught all of these favourite tunes for years – Three Stars was born!” Debra
